The Abia State government said it will prosecute individuals who are spreading falsehoods about the State, as it has vowed to crack down on them.
Okey Kanu, the state Commissioner for Information, disclosed this on Monday while briefing journalists on the outcome of this week’s executive council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
The Commissioner vowed that those behind the trending style of falsehood being disseminated against the Abia State government will no longer be allowed to continue in their actions.
“While this State government will not lend itself to the gestapo style of the past, where people were arrested and their fundamental human rights breached, the State government will no longer fold its arms and watch the people with such bad intentions to publish falsehood, outright falsehood against the State government”, Kanu said.
The Commissioner said that the Alex Otti administration was not hiding any information from the reach of Abia people.
