Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has issued an Executive Order for the immediate payment of all outstanding pensions, gratuities, to verified pensioners in the state.
The Governor’s order was contained in a statement issued in Jalingo on Monday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Yusuf Sanda.
According to Sanda, the directive was in line with the respect and compassion the governor has for senior citizens.
He stated: “Taraba State must honour those who have dedicated their lives to public service.
“Their dignity is non-negotiable, and attending to their welfare is our moral duty”.
Kefas, stated further that a special outreach team will be deployed to all local government areas, wards, and villages to locate and document pensioners who are alive but incapacitated and ensuring that their entitlements are paid without any difficulties.
The statement said the Ministry of Finance has been instructed to submit a weekly compliance report to the Governor’s office.
Governor Kefas warned that no administrative obstacles will be tolerated in this process.
