Mrs. Foluke Osafile, member representing Amuwo-Odofin Constituency-01 in the Lagos State House of Assembly has defected to the African Democratic Party (ADC).
Osafile, who was elected into the Lagos State House of Assembly on the platform of the Labour Party was received into ADC on Sunday by the chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the party, Hon. George Ashiru.
Ashiru described Osafile’s decision as a bold and patriotic move, saying it reflects the growing confidence of progressive leaders in the ADC as the true platform for people-centred governance.
“Hon. Osafile’s defection is not just a gain for the ADC, but a clear signal that credible lawmakers who are genuinely committed to service are aligning with a party that prioritises competence, accountability, and the welfare of the people,” he said.
The ADC chairman noted that Osafile’s track record in the Assembly, particularly her role as Chairman of the House Committee on Wealth Creation, aligns with the party’s vision of economic empowerment and inclusive development.
Ashiru called on Lagos residents, especially grassroots voters, youths, and professionals, to seize the moment and be part of what he described as a growing political movement.
“I encourage the good people of Lagos State to join this moving train. The ADC is ready to offer purposeful leadership and a credible alternative. In the coming elections, I urge Lagosians to come out en masse and vote for the ADC, a party truly committed to good governance and effective representation,” he said.
He assured party members and supporters that the ADC would continue to strengthen its structures across the state and work with leaders like Osafile to deepen democracy and deliver tangible dividends of governance to the people.
