The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the official timetable for its 2026 nationwide congresses and National Convention, setting in motion a process to renew the party’s leadership structures nationwide.
In a press statement issued by the party on Sunday, the ADC said the congresses would begin at the grassroots level and progress through the party’s various tiers before culminating in a National Convention scheduled for mid-April.
The party explained that the exercise forms part of its constitutional obligation to reorganise and strengthen its internal leadership framework.
“The African Democratic Congress (ADC) hereby announces the official schedule of activities for the conduct of our party’s 2026 nationwide congresses and National Convention,” the statement read.
“This process forms part of our party’s constitutional responsibility to renew its leadership structures across all levels of the organization, beginning from the polling units and wards through the local government and state levels, culminating in the National Convention.”
According to the party’s timetable, the congresses will commence with meetings at the polling unit and ward levels on 7 April 2026. This will be followed by Local Government Area congresses on 9 April and State congresses on 11 April.
The process will culminate in the party’s National Convention on 14 April, at which national officers are expected to be elected.
The approved timetable is as follows:
- Polling Unit and Ward Congresses: Tuesday, 7 April 2026.
- Local Government Area Congresses: Thursday, 9 April 2026.
- Senatorial and State Congresses: Saturday, 11 April 2026.
- National Convention: Tuesday, 14 April 2026.
The statement was jointly signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Prince Chinedu Idigo, and National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.
