Twenty-one (21) suspected cultists and two fake news peddlers who used a social media platform to make inciting comments capable of causing chaos within Plateau State have been arrested by operatives of the Plateau State command.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, attributed the success recorded to the State Commissioner, CP Bassey Ewah, directive to all Area Commanders, DPOs and Tactical Team Commanders on the need to tighten Patrol and Raid Operations within their jurisdictions.
The statement reads in part: “As part of efforts put in place to curb crime and criminality and ensure a peaceful Ramadan celebration, the CP had directed all Area Commanders, DPOs and Tactical Team Commanders to heighten Patrol and Raid Operations within their areas of responsibility.
“Consequently, 21 suspects were arrested at various locations within the metropolis. The suspects are currently undergoing a thorough investigation at the State CID and will soon be charged in court for onward prosecution.
“CP Bassey Ewah commends the efforts of our officers who worked tirelessly on the field to ensure that these arrests were possible, and encourages them to intensify their efforts in ensuring the safety of Plateau citizens and flushing all criminal elements out of the State.
“The Command arrested a Social Media fake news peddler and 21 suspected members of “Sara-Suka”, a cult syndicate notorious for terrorising innocent citizens within the Jos-Bukuru metropolis.
“It will be recalled that early this month, a viral TikTok video posted via the handle *@townboii1*was making rounds on Social Media. In the video, the individual made inciting comments aimed at causing chaos within the State.
“The Command is pleased to announce to the public that the originator and owner of the said TikTok account, one Mohammed Shuaibu Adam, male, 16 years, and his accomplice, one Auwal Ilyas Abdullahi, male, 19 years old, both of Rikkos, Jos, have been arrested by the Command”.
Alabo disclosed that the suspects have confessed to the crime, and the suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of the investigation.
He called on citizens of the State to remain calm and go about their legitimate activities without fear as the Command is capable and committed to ensuring their safety.
