The House of Representatives has urged Nigerians to embrace unity, sacrifice and hope as Christians across the country celebrate Easter.
In a statement issued on Saturday by House Spokesman, Rep. Akin Rotimi, the lawmakers described Easter as a symbol of renewal and national reflection.
“Easter symbolises the triumph of life over death and hope over despair. Its enduring message inspires compassion, forgiveness, service to others, and renewed commitment to the common good,” Rotimi stated.
“Beyond its spiritual significance, Easter offers a moment of national reflection, reminding Nigerians that renewal is possible through unity, reconciliation, and shared purpose.”
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, called on Christians to emulate the teachings of Jesus Christ and continue to pray for the nation.
“…prayers have indeed attracted divine intervention to socio-economic, political, and religious issues that have torn other nations apart,” he said.
The House noted that, beyond its religious significance, Easter offers Nigerians an opportunity to recommit to national development and peaceful coexistence.
It urged citizens to promote compassion, forgiveness and service to others, stressing that unity and shared purpose remain key to overcoming the country’s challenges.
The lawmakers expressed optimism that the spirit of Easter would strengthen Nigeria’s democratic progress and social harmony.
