Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has called on the people of Kogi Local Government Area to unite in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that sustained backing for the President is critical to consolidating ongoing economic reforms and national development.
Ododo made the call during his visit to Kotokarfe on Sunday for a thank-you tour and an inspection of ongoing projects in the area, during which he underscored the importance of continuity in leadership at the federal level.
He commended President Tinubu for his bold and transformative policies, noting that the difficult but necessary decisions he has taken are already laying a solid foundation for long-term economic stability and growth.
According to the governor, the ongoing reconstruction of the Lokoja–Abuja road is a clear testament to the President’s commitment to infrastructure development and national connectivity.
He acknowledged the temporary inconvenience commuters face, describing it as a necessary sacrifice for a greater, more enduring benefit.
The governor urged the people to remain steadfast in their support for the President, emphasizing that the success of the current administration at the center will translate into greater dividends of democracy for states and local communities across the country.
He expressed deep appreciation to the Ohimege Igu of Koto-Karfi and the entire people of Kogi Local Government Area for their unwavering support, particularly in ensuring security along the Lokoja–Koto-Karfi–Abuja road corridor. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equitable infrastructural development across all 21 local government areas of the state.
At the palace, the Ohimege Igu of Koto-Karfi, Dr. Seidu Akawu Salihu, lauded Governor Ododo for his impactful leadership, noting that his administration’s strides in security and development have been widely felt across the state.
The monarch also assured the governor of the continued support of his people for government policies and programmes, especially those aimed at protecting lives and property and fostering sustainable development.
Also speaking is the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Hon. (Barr.) Muhammed Tanko Musa, commended Ododo for aligning with the policies and programmes of President Tinubu, describing the synergy as a pathway to resolving political and developmental challenges.
Similarly, the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Abubakar Bashir Gegu, reaffirmed the commitment of stakeholders to the success of both Governor Ododo and President Tinubu, noting that unity of purpose remains key to achieving greater progress.
Reiterating his commitment to democratic principles, Governor Ododo also emphasised that there’ll be no imposition of candidates in the state, maintaining that the power to choose leaders rests solely with the people.
He disclosed that President Tinubu has consistently advised political leaders to allow the will of the people to prevail, urging aspirants to engage with the grassroots, consult widely, and earn the trust and support of their constituents.
“If you aspire to serve or want to continue to serve your people, you must relate with them at the grassroots because they own us. From the State Assembly to the National Assembly, Senate, and even the governorship, it’s the people who will decide. That’s where we stand,” the governor said.
He added that his administration remains committed to providing a level playing field for all aspirants, insisting that leadership must be earned through service, trust, and acceptance by the people.
