BusinessNewsNigeriaDangote Makes TIME 100 List of 100 Most Influential People

Industrialist Aliko Dangote has been named among TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World for 2026.

The annual list, released on 15 April, recognises global figures shaping business, politics, science, and culture.

Dangote is the only Nigerian on the list and was featured in the “Titans” category, marking his second appearance after his 2014 recognition.

He joins world leaders and business figures including Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, Benjamin Netanyahu, Sundar Pichai, and Neal Mohan.

TIME cited Dangote’s role in driving Africa’s industrialisation through large-scale investments in cement, agriculture, and energy.

As founder of the Dangote Group, he has led projects aimed at reducing import dependence and boosting local production across the continent.

His recent investments, including the Dangote Refinery, have been described as transformative for Nigeria’s energy sector.

Beyond business, his philanthropic work through the Aliko Dangote Foundation—supporting health, education, and poverty alleviation—also contributed to his selection.

The recognition highlights growing global attention on African business leadership and economic influence.
