NewsNigeriaPoliticsFormer Senator Mohammed Hassan Dumps APC, Joins NDC

Former Senator Mohammed Hassan, popularly known as Dambu, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDC).

Kabiru Musa Bile, a prominent supporter of the former senator disclosed this to journalists on Wednesday, stressing that the exit of the former lawmaker will negatively affect the fortunes of the ruling party in Yobe State.

Bile revealed that Hassan had undertaken extensive consultations with his supporters before deciding to leave the APC. “It is a well-known fact that Senator Mohammed Hassan is one of the most popular and beloved politicians in Yobe State. He served as Senator for Yobe South from 2015 to 2019, during which time he executed his responsibilities with commendable integrity, facilitating numerous projects that significantly benefited his constituents,” Bile stated.

Sources close to Hassan indicate that his defection is not just a personal move but a clear signal of the shifting political landscape in Yobe State, as he is believed to be taking a substantial number of supporters with him to the NDC.

A viral video circulating on social media shows Hassan exchanging pleasantries with prominent NDC figures, including Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Nasiru Gawuna, Bawa Waziri, and Musa Vice Potiskum, further underscoring the growing support around his new political affiliation.

This move marks a dramatic shift in Yobe State’s political narrative, as Hassan’s departure from the APC is expected to have significant ramifications for the party’s influence in the region. Political analysts are closely watching how this realignment will affect the forthcoming elections and the broader dynamics in the state’s political arena.
