NewsNigeriaPoliticsAPC Aspirant Rejects Outcome Of Party Primaries

An aspirant for the just concluded APC primaries for Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency in Gombe State, John Alfred Atajiri has discarded the announced result in his constituency alleging that the election did not hold across the constituency.
Atajiri, who spoke with journalists, alleged that there was sufficient evidence, including videos, photographs, eyewitness accounts, and reports, showing clearly that no valid electoral exercise took place before the results were declared.
“It is deeply disturbing that Hon Mohammed Sa’idu Yila Fawu, a former Commissioner in Gombe State, went ahead to announce results for a process that was never conducted”.
“This development is not only an insult to the democratic rights of party members and delegates, but also a dangerous precedent capable of destroying the credibility of the party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) that has built over the years”.
Atajiri, therefore, appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Chairman of the APC, Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, to intervene in the matter in order to restore hope, justice, and renewed confidence in the party.
“Silence in the face of this situation will only embolden impunity and weaken the faith of ordinary party members who believe in fairness, due process, and equal opportunity,” he said.
The aspirant called on supporters of the party across Balanga and Billiri to remain calm, peaceful and law- abiding, stressing that the situation should not lead them to violence, unrest, or actions capable of disrupting the peace of the community.
“We remain confident that truth will prevail and that the voice of the people cannot be permanently silenced”, he stated.
However, the Gombe State Senatorial/House of Representatives Primary Election Committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has commended all its members across the State over the peaceful conduct of the Primary Election held on Saturday, 16th May, 2026.
Chairman of the Committee, Malam Labiru Musa Kafur, while briefing newsmen Sunday evening over the outcome of the election, noted that the peaceful atmosphere, the orderly conduct of aspirants, and the massive, disciplined turnouts across the State proved beyond doubt that the APC internal democracy is robust, stable, and deeinstitutionalizedply .
“By establishing a system anchored heavily on verifiable registers and institutional rules, the outcome of this primary is legally sound and democratically unassailable,” he added.
According to him, the Committee was given a clear, uncompromised mandate to deliver a transparent, credible, and flawless primary election across the six (6) Federal House of Representatives constituencies in Gombe State.
“Our overarching objective was to ensure that the bedrock of progressive politics, which is the absolute will of the grassroots membership, was fully protected, thereby strengthening party cohesion ahead of the general elections,” he said.
The winners of the primary election in the other four constituencies are Dukku/Nafada, Jamilu Ahmed Shabewa; Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye, Hon Saddam Bello; Kaltungo/Shongom, Hon Fatima Binta Bello and Yamaltu/Deba Federal Constituency was won by Hon Inuwa Garba.
