A presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, has advised Nigerian youths to reject recycled politicians who failed to fulfill promises made during electioneering campaigns.
Hayatu-Deen gave the advice at a town hall meeting in Abuja, noted that political leaders in Nigeria who were in the system for years have failed to meet the yearnings and aspirations of youths in the country.
He attributed it to years of poor planning, weak governance and economic neglect, regretted that the future of youths in Nigeria is bleak.
“More than 18 million Nigerian children are out of school, while millions of graduates are unable to secure jobs. The problem has never been the young people of Nigeria. The problem has been leadership.” he averred.
In another development, the need to amend some aspects of the 2026 Electoral Act has been stressed.
Sen. Victor Umeh told newsmen in Abuja after being screened by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) screening committee that Nigeria needs principled and character-driven legislators in the 11th National Assembly to revise the much-criticized aspect of the 2026 Electoral Act Amendment.
The Legislator described as unconstitutional the provisions of the amended Electoral Act that restrict politicians from defecting to other political parties to secure a ticket.
He disclosed that senators opposed the controversial clauses during deliberations on the bill, but their concerns were ignored.
