A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the nation’s capital has ordered Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma to stop parading himself as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election scheduled for January 16, 2027.
According to Justice Obiora Egwuatu who issued the order in a judgment held that Uzodinma did not win the APC senatorial primary election conducted on May 18 and monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The court ruled that evidence presented before it established that former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha secured the majority of votes cast in the primary.
The judge also ordered INEC to publish Okorocha’s name as the APC’s senatorial candidate, effectively rejecting Uzodinma’s claim to the party’s ticket for the contest.
Justice Egwuatu consequently ordered that Okorocha be recognised as the winner of the primary and directed the APC to forward his name to INEC as its candidate for the Imo West Senatorial District election in the 2027 general elections.
