The Digital Bridge Institute, DBI is to flag off new Post graduate courses in Big Data Analysis, Masters in Analytics, Masters in Cyber Security and Masters in Computer Applications.
President and CEO of Digital Bridge Institute, Engr. Prof. Mohammed Ajiya disclosed this at the weekend during at the installation of 19th National Chairman of NIEEE and the official investiture ceremony, where he was honoured with the fellowship concernment by NIEEE for his hardwork, dedication and immense contributions to the Engineering profession and the nation.
Prof. Ajiya said the DBI is now focused on the new post graduate courses to ‘enable the country improve more in the interest of the digital world we are in now, as we are into technology.’
The DBI boss, who acknowledge the supports of NCC in both secondary and tertiary institutions explained that some of the courses are going to’ start in some affiliated universities.
‘‘So far, we have done a lot within the period I took over as the head of digital bridge institute, we have reactivated other courses, we have reached out to various stakeholders.
‘‘We have intensified our trainings sponsored majorly by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, in so many states.
‘‘We are going to do different courses in Collaboration with affiliated Universities. We are going to bring a brand new programme that is new in Nigeria, nobody had ever done before. We call it Masters of Computer applications, where depending on your background you can study Masters in Computer Applications.
‘‘Some are going to start Post graduate programmes in course affiliations in various Universities. We have intensified our trainings sponsored majorly by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, in so many states.
‘‘We will improve more in the interest of the digital world we are in now, as we are into technology.
‘‘That is what the Indians used and you find them in several places. We are flagging off this programme as soon as possible and we are bringing it new in Nigeria,’’ he said.
On his award, Prof. Ajiya said the award will ginger him to put in his best to bridge digital literacy and also contribute to the development of telecommunications.
‘‘I feel very happy to be so honourd as a member of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the global body because this is highest honour you can receive.’’
The representative of the Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, the Director of Technical Standards and Network Integrity (DTSNI) at the Commission, Bako Wakil said NCC had always collaborated with all the professional bodies under the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, and promised to raise the bar.
‘‘We are expected to collaborate in fulfilling our regulatory mandate and we expect the Engineers to support the Commission’s in its regulatory functions and participate in some of our programs that is consumer based, so that we can also benefit from the observations and advice that they can give us.
‘‘Continues professional development is one of the cardinal objectives of the NCC administration, we always train our people both locally and internationally and the current chairman of NIEEE has gone through tremendous training and that will guide him in putting the institution in a proper perspective and encourage members for professional development.
‘‘We must abreast ourselves with the new emerging and trending technologies so that we can put those in our regulatory perspective.’’
DBI is the training arm of NCC that that deals with professional courses and programmes in Telecommunications policies and regulation, National Innovative Diploma programme in ICT areas.
