NewsNigeriaStates, FCT record significant fall in IGR in Q3 of 2019, NBS data reveals

The Nigerian Bureau of Statistics, NBS has released the performance of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja on internally generated revenue in Quarter 3. According to a summary of how the states and FCT performed as published by NBS in its website, there was a 25.12% decline in IGR of states and FCT in Q3 ending in September of 2019. According to NBS, in Q2 the 36 states and FCT generated N392.38bn as compared to N293.80bn they generated in Q3.

Also in Q3, only seven states recorded growth rate as compared to Q2 while 30 states and FCT recorded significant decline in IGR. The seven states that grew their IGR in Q3 are Anambra, Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Jigawa, Kogi and Ogun. Amongst the seven states, Gombe has the highest growth rate of 107%, followed by Anambra with 96% growth rate.

In the nine months between January and September of 2019, the states and FCT generated N986.294bn with Lagos taking the lead with N297bn followed by Rivers with N107bn and Yobe trailing at the bottom of the table with N3.3bn.

Expectedly, Lagos IGR in nine months is bigger than the bottom 25 states put together within the same period under review.
