After a 21-year wait, Andy Reid is finally a Super Bowl-winning head coach.

Reid, 61, led his Kansas City Chiefs to a 31-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV on Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. “This is what it’s all about,” Reid said to FOX Sports following the game. “What a great team, great coaches. Love every bit of it.”

Before the victory, Reid was the most successful head coach in NFL history without a Super Bowl win.

Reid came into the Super Bowl with 207 career wins, which ranks seventh all-time. New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick (273) is the only active coach ahead of Reid in career victories. The five other head coaches in front of Reid are in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The former Eagles coach had been to seven championship games and a Super Bowl before earning the biggest win of his coaching career.

During his 14 years in Philadelphia (1999-2012), he went to five NFC title games and a Super Bowl during an eight-year stretch but was never able to win the big game. The Eagles lost Super Bowl XXXIX to Belichick and the Patriots, 24-21, in Jacksonville, Fla. in 2004.

Reid was eventually fired by the Eagles in 2013 after a 4-12 season. A week later, Reid was hired by the Chiefs.

Reid led the Chiefs to their first home AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium in January. Following the AFC title win, the Chiefs were able to claim the Lamar Hunt Trophy, which is named after the founder and former owner of the Kansas City franchise.

This year, Reid was able to finally get over the Super Bowl hump with the help of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, running back Damien Williams and an improved Chiefs defense.

The Super Bowl victory was only the second in Chiefs history and first in 50 years. Reid is the sixth-oldest coach to win his first Super Bowl.
