Ghana has confirmed it first death case of Corona Virus. The victim, a 61 year old male Lebanese trader died on Sunday. According to the deputy health minister of Ghana, Alex Abban, his case was the 11th recorded in the country. He was reported unwell and tested positive to the virus on Thursday, 19, march, 20th. “Unfortunately he was one person who tested positive for the virus but had serious underlying health complications, passed away in the early hours of today,” he said.

Currently, there are 21 cases confirmed cases of Corona Virus in Ghana. In a broadcast, the president, Nana Akufo-Addo ordered the closure of the country’s border for two weeks. He believes the closure will reduce the spread of the virus in the country.

“Anybody who comes into the country before midnight on Sunday, will be mandatorily quarantined and tested for this virus. This closure will not apply to goods, supplies and cargo. Whilst we continue to adhere to these measures and ramp up our efforts to defeat this virus, I urge all of us also to seek the face of the Almighty. So, on Wednesday, 25th March, 2020, I appeal to all Ghanaians, Christians and Muslims, to observe a national day of fasting and prayer. Let us pray to God to protect our nation and save us from this pandemic,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nigeria has confirmed twenty seven cases of Corona Virus.  In the early hours of Sunday, five new cases of the disease was recorded bringing it to a total of twenty seven. According  to the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), 19 cases of Corona virus was recorded in Lagos, Four in Abuja, One in Oyo, two in Ogun and one in Ekiti state.
