UK prime minister, Boris Johnson expressed profound gratitude towards the country’s Health services following his recovery from the novel disease, Coronavirus.
On March 27, Boris announced that he tested positive for Coronavirus. He noted that he would continue to lead the country as he was only experiencing mild symptoms.
But 10 days after this announcement, the prime minister was taken to St Thomas Hospital, London for showing persistent COVID-19 symptoms. He was moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) the next day after his condition deteriorated.
“I can’t thank them enough. I owe them my life,” he said in a first public statement since being hospitalised
The 55-year-old leader will not be immediately returning to work, on the advice of his medical staff, a Downing Street spokesman said.
“The PM has been discharged from hospital to continue his recovery at Chequers,” he said.
“He wishes to thank everybody at St Thomas’ (Hospital) for the brilliant care he has received.
“All of his thoughts are with those affected by this illness.”
On Saturday, Britain recorded 737 Coronavirus related hospital death, taking the total number of death cases to 10,612. The country is now seeing daily death tolls similar to those seen in Europe’s hardest-hit countries like Italy and Spain.
