The Enugu State Ministry of Health has announced the successful treatment and discharge of one of the patients that tested positive to the COVID-19.

This was contained in a letter signed by the state’s Commissioner for Health, and Associate Professor of Public Health Medicine, Dr. Emmanuel Obi.

Recall that on 27th March 2020, the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) announced two cases of COVID-19 in Enugu State. They were the first cases recorded in the South East region of the nation.

The patients on arrival from the United Kingdom voluntarily contacted the government requesting for the COVID-19 test to which they tested positive.

Consequently, they were isolated, and treatment commenced.

“We are glad to announce that one of the patients according to test ran now is negative while the other patient is stable and responding very well to treatment”.

Obi further enjoined residents in Enugu State and Nigeria at large to stay at home, maintain hand and respiratory hygiene, wear a facemask and maintain physical distancing.
