Commuters on Ukpabio-Nimbo-Ugbene-Ajima-Eziani road now heave a sigh of relief as they travel through this route in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area (LGA) in Enugu State.

The road which was totally dilapidated and abandoned for years now is preferred by transporters above the Obimo-Nkpologu route as its construction reaches an appreciably advanced stage.

The asphalting of the 26.665km road that cuts across four communities in Uzo-Uwani LGA not only gives the area easy accessibility but also well for farmers for the transportation of their farm produce.

The Second Rural Access and Mobility Project RAMP-2 of which the Ukpabio-Nimbo-Ugbene…road benefits from is a World Bank and French Development Agency AFD assisted project in support of the implementation of the National Rural Travel and Transport Policy RTTP in Enugu State.

Rural Access and Mobility Project for Nigeria seeks to improve transport conditions and bring sustained access to the rural population through rehabilitating and maintaining key rural transport infrastructure in a sustainable manner in selected Nigerian states.

In keeping with the Enugu State Government’s vision to give the rural dwellers a sense of belonging, speed up rural-urban development, create fresh socio-economic opportunities and reduce pressure on Enugu metropolis, this road was selected for its economic importance.
