The Osun state governor, Gbeoyega Oyetola has announced the extension of coronavirus lockdown in the state for three days.

The governor disclosed this in a live broadcast on Thursday, just as the initial 14-day lockdown expired.

According to him, the lockdown was reviewed in order to avoid the spread of “community transmission” in the state.

To avoid community transmission, we have decided to review the lockdown which terminates at midnight of today,  Thursday 30th April, to strike a midway without necessarily putting the lives of our people and the economy of the state.

On Thursday to Sunday, there shall be a dusk to dawn curfew from 6 pm-6 am from Monday to Thursday until further notice. Movement of vehicles is outlawed within this period except for verified medical emergency cases and those on essential duties.

Speaking further, he noted that the ban on public, religious, and economic gatherings remain in force.

“All major markets shall remain shut,” he said.

Osun state has recorded 34 cases of Corona Virus since the outbreak of the pandemic in Nigeria.  Although Lagos remains the epic centre of the Virus, Osun state is prone to an exponential rise as the country’s tally continues to increase.
