Bauchi State Government says it has released N827 million for the construction of a four kilometer road project in Bauchi metropolis, to enhance transportation services.

Malam Abdulkadir Ibrahim, the state’s Commissioner for Works and Transport, disclosed this during a news conference at the end of the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting, in Bauchi on Wednesday.

Ibrahim disclosed that the contract for the project awarded to TRIACTA Nigeria Limited was expected to be completed within seven months, adding that a 30 per cent mobilisation fee had been released to the contractor.

He said the project was designed to provide access, link the communities with other parts of the state and boost economic activities.

“We are committed to implementing the blue print of Bauchi town,” he said.

Ibrahim revealed that the state government had so far paid N547 million compensation to 924 persons whose property were affected due to the road and housing projects.

He noted that payments to the beneficiaries were effected through their dedicated bank accounts.

The commissioner who is also a member of the state’s Workers Verification Committee, revealed further that the committee had uncovered 89 ghosts medical doctors, who were receiving salaries from the government.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Bauchi Government had recently uncovered 876 ghosts’ teachers in the state.
