Petroleum Station Workers of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG in Adamawa state Northeast Nigeria has threatened to embark on strike to demand action by security agents to check incessant attacks on petroleum stations by armed robbers.

 Mr. Sunday Jatau, Secretary of the body who disclosed this after a meeting of the union in Yola expressed worry that the crimes are perpetrated unabated.

He explained that in recent times armed robbers attacked five fuel stations and killed as well as injured some members of the union in the fuel stations.

“Buffers fuel station along Numan road was attacked while its security guard was killed, another fuel station AAMT along Jimeta-Yola road was also attacked and two staff of the station were also injured” Jatau added.

He said the case was reported to the police pointing out that they are receiving positive responses from security, and hope that the re-occurrence of the dastardly act will be put to halt.

Jatau said the leadership of the union has enlightened its members on safety measures and urged customers to report any incidence that is detrimental to their safety and other members of the public as well as the fuel stations.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Adamawa state Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said the police are working round the clock to unravel the perpetrators of criminal activities in the state.
