In order to cushion the hardships and reduced use of firewood occasioned by COVID-19, the Federal government has distributed twenty-one thousand (21,000) Gas cylinders to indigent rural women across Adamawa as part of Covid-19 palliative.
Flagging off the distribution in Girei local government, President Muhammadu Buhari urged the state government to ensure judicious distribution of the palliatives and commended Governor Umaru Fintiri for carrying women along in the scheme of governance.
Represented by the Minister of Women of Affairs Mrs Pauline Tallen said the distribution is done across the country.
The Minister noted with concern that the Ministry is confronted with issues of rape and Gender Base Violence, and called on the state government to hasten the domestication of the Child Right Act and Violence Against Persons act in Adamawa.
In a remark, Governor Umaru Fintiri expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for the provision of the palliatives and assured that the government will ensure justice in the distribution of the items.
