The pet project “Fresh Air Pro-life Empowerment” of Hajiya Lami Umaru Fintiri, wife of the Adamawa state Governor will train five hundred (500) women and youths in the northern part of the state in skill acquisition for them to become self-reliant.

Beneficiaries of the second phase of the programme are from Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Michika, and Madagali local governments.

Flagging off the training at Sali Isa Bello Hall in Mubi Hajiya Lami Fintiri said the training is to equip women and youths in the state with various skills of their choice so as to empower them.

Represented by the Commissioner of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs. Wilbina Jakson, the wife of the Governor pleaded with husbands to support their wives to partake in the program, challenged youths not to wait for government jobs but start their own businesses.

On their parts, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mohammed Umaru and that of Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Lami Ahmad appreciated Governor Fintiri and his wife for fulfilling part of the campaign promises made to people at the grass-root, noting that such activity will boost socio-economic well-being of the people.

They advised participants to be punctual and not to sell the starter packs that will be given to them at the end of the training.

In a remark, one of the Directors of “A” squad multi-services the company handling the training programme; Mr. Kenneth said at the end of the training, each participant will be provided with a starter park and five thousand naira (N5, 000) as transport allowance.

Earlier in his address, the chairman Mubi South local government, Alhaji Jingi Rufa’i described the initiative as commendable and assured that it will be extended to ward levels.
