One suspected drug addict of Wuro Chekke, Yola, Adamawa state capital Wednesday drown in the nearby Njuwa Lake, while bodies of two others are being searched for as at the time of filing this report in an attempt to escape arrest by the police.

An eyewitness however and a resident of Wuro Chekke, Mr Saad said the Police had succeeded in arresting one of them.

He added that the incident happened in the morning when a team of policemen arrived at the popular drug joint in the area. On sighting the police, the drug addicts ran from the smoking joint to the lake and dived in, obviously to avoid arrest.
Though, one of the suspects who was arrested by the police was later granted bail”. Saad said.
When contacted, the Spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP, Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje said he is yet to receive the report, but promised to investigate the incident.
In a related development, two people of the same family on Wednesday died at Lake Njuwa, Yola town when a canoe conveying them from their farm in Rugange in Yola South local government area capsized.
It was learned that a lady who was in the capsized canoe was saved from drowning.
