The Enugu State Government has announced the re-opening of all primary and secondary schools in the state, for 3rd term academic activities, on Monday, September 28, 2020.

Prof. Uche Eze, Commissioner for Education, revealed this as a consensus from the Enugu State Education sector stakeholders and approved by the State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

“All necessary precautionary measures as outlined by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC, have been put in place in our schools for safe re-opening,” Eze pointed out.

He further called on teachers, students, and non-academic staff to be responsible and comply with the approved guidelines on COVID-19.

“No person will be allowed into any school without wearing an appropriate facemask/shield,” Eze reiterated.

The Commissioner however revealed that strong monitoring teams have been constituted at both state and Local Government levels to monitor compliance with the approved guidelines for the safety of all.

Students who have completed their Primary six and Junior Secondary certificate exams are not expected in schools thereby giving schools more space and less children to accommodate.

Recall that all educational institutions in the state were closed on March, 23rd 2020 to contain the spread of COVID-19.
