To boost fish farming activities in riverine areas of Girei local government area of Adamawa and other parts of Adamawa Central Senatorial Zone, four communities have so far benefitted from the benevolent gesture of a grassroots politician Alhaji Chubado Murtala Modibbo.

The communities are Goron, Tambo, and Damare all in Girei Local Government Area with each community received Cash, Canoes and Fishing Nets.

Modibbo who contested Senatorial seat for Adamawa Central on the platform of Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), but lost out to All Progressives  Congress (APC) candidate in the 2019 general elections candidate while presenting the items to the beneficiaries in Gereng, said one of the Cardinal objectives of PDP administration is fighting poverty and hunger.

“The essence of the donation was is to give the fishermen a sense of belonging which will help in curtailing criminal activities in the society as well as making them productive”. He said

Modibbo called on the benefiting communities to use the facilities for the purpose intended and appealed to other wealthy Nigerians to empower people so as to reduce restiveness in the society.

Also in their Goodwill messages, the Kpana Goron, Asurel Lawan Shemiro represented by Arastus Shemiro and PDP chairman Goron Ward Mr Felix Dimas pledged their unflinching support to the donor at all times.

In their separate remarks, some PDP chieftains, Baba Caleb Tabwasa and Sallau Damare applauded the effort of the donor, describing it as first of its kind.

They called on people of the area to support Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and the donor for them to reap more democracy dividends.
