On resumed plenary on Monday after weeks of break, the Adamawa State House of Assembly has passed a resolution mandating stakeholders at various levels to provide security to public facilities against criminals.

The House decision followed a matter of urgent public importance raised on the floor of the House by the member representing Verre Constituency, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Yapak during Monday’s resumed plenary.

“The present administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri is committing substantial amount especially to education and health to revive the two sectors to stand which called for adequate security of facilities being provided.

“Criminals are capitalizing on security lapses in some communities to vandalize facilities provided by the government.

“Local Government Councils and other stakeholders in the state should be mandated to provide guards for public structures in their areas”. Yapak added

In their separate contributions on the motion, members representing Shelleng, Nasarawo-Binyeri and Jada-Mbulo Constituencies expressed worry over the trend and called for urgent action by the government.

Speaker of the House, Alhaji Aminu Iya Abbas who presided over the plenary session put the motion for consideration into voice vote which was supported by lawmakers present during the sitting.

Abbas then directed the clerk of the House to communicate the resolution of the House to relevant stakeholders for further action.
