As part of humanitarian gesture, the Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza has given cash palliative to one hundred and four widows (104) with each getting eleven thousand naira (N11,000) as palliative to alleviate their suffering occasioned by coronavirus pandemic.
The beneficiaries are Namtari, Yolde Pate, Ngurore and Sangere in Yola South local Government area.
Presenting the palliative at the Catholic Secretariat Jimeta Wednesday, Bishop Mamza explained that it will assist the widows to overcome economic challenges they faced during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The gesture is in collaboration with a nongovernmental organization “caford” with the support of the Catholic diocese of Yola.
“Weathy individuals, NGOs should continue to support the needy no matter little the amount is”. He said Mamza advise the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money by supporting their family with food stuff.
“People of Adamawa particularly farmers should desist from selling off their farm produce without reserving for the family as this year rainy season was delayed”. He added
Some of the beneficiaries who exprssed satisfaction with the gesture, noted that it would enhance the living status of their families.
