It is a common scenario during political gatherings that some women would be seen engaging in various unethical conducts soliciting favour from either aspirants or bigwig politicians.

To have a healthy politics and curb the trend, some women in Adamawa State have come up with an Association code named “Operation Hana Matan Siyasa Maula Yazama Dole” aimed at fighting the menace amongst women politicians.

Commissioning the office complex of the Association in Jimeta, Yola North local Government area, Deputy Governor of the State Chief Crowder Seth said the cardinal objective of Fintiri led administration is to engage women on entrepreneurship skills.

Represented by his Adviser on Women Affairs Mr Hilda Makanto, Seth described the inauguration of the Association as timely and urged women at all levels to cooperate with the body towards fighting the ugly trend.

Seth called on women to rally round Fintiri led administration to enable them reap more dividends of democracy.

In a remark, former Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly Alhaji Hassan Turaki also who described women as backbone of the society, urged them not to degrade themselves to level of begging from political office holders, as it will tarnish their reputation.

Earlier in her welcome address, the founder of the Association, Hajiya Larai Marwa said the Association which is not inclined to any political party is aim at creating awareness among to women on the consequences of begging.

“The Association will train women across the twenty one local governments in the state on making varieties of cake like Masa, Nakiya, Awara, kulikuli, Dakuwa among others to enable them to become self-reliant”. She said

In her message wife of Lamido Adamawa Hajiya Aisha Barkido Aliyu represented by Zinariyan Jimeta, Hajiya Maisaratu Bello lauded the effort of the Association in fighting the act.
