Seventeen missing students from Government Science Secondary School, Kankara have been found, says the Katsina state governor, Aminu Musari.
The governor made this indication during an interview with Deutsche Welle (DW), a German news outlet on Monday.
He said the students found have been reunited with their families.
“As at today, information available to me shows that 17 of the missing children have been found. 15 of them were found around Dinya in Danmusa (LGA).
“I was informed by the DPO. One other was found through them and the last, the father called that his son has returned home.
“All these missing children found have been reunited with their families since we have shut down schools.
“Majority of the students were in the forest in Zamfara. Efforts are on for their rescue,” he said.
Last Friday, gunmen attacked the boarding school and abducted over 300 schoolboys.
Three days after the incident, Boko Haram, an insurgent group claimed it was responsible for the abduction of the students.
Abubakar Shekau, leader of the group, said it attacked the school because it was teaching students things that could be detrimental to Islam.
