After the meeting of major stakeholders in the Education sector on Monday, the Enugu State Ministry of Education announced Monday, January 18, 2021, as resumption date for all schools in the state.

Relating the decision of the meeting to the newsmen, Prof Uche Eze, Commissioner for Education further called on school leaders not to relent in adhering to the outlined protocols released by the Nigeria Center for Disease and Control, NCDC.

“All schools in the state are advised to ensure full compliance with the NCDC guidelines for the containment of Coronavirus Disease,” Eze said.

“To ensure compliance, the Ministry has decided on constant monitoring of schools” the Commissioner revealed.

The Education Commissioner then called on schools, both basic and tertiary institutions to embrace the opportunity offered by technology in learning.

“To enhance learning amidst this pandemic, all tertiary institution, Basic and Post Basic schools are advised to activate their e-learning programmes.”

In a related development, the Enugu State government, in furtherance of its commitment to contain the second wave of COVID-19, suspended the annual prayer session usually held at the Government House that heralds resumption of work every New Year.

The State Government however directed all civil servants to resume duties in their various offices, with strict compliance with NCDC guidelines.
