Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State says arrangements are in the pipeline to establish three new comprehensive Model Secondary Schools in Guyuk, Song, and Mubi South local government areas by the state government in collaboration with the North East Development Commission NEDC.
Fintiri revealed this Tuesday when he received in audience members of the Old Boys Association of Government Science Secondary School GSSS Hong, class of 1986 in the Council Chambers, Government House Yola.
“Government has arranged with the North East Development Commission NEDC for building the schools this year as part of Adamawa’s share which will decongest schools in the state and enhance educational development.
“Despite the drop in economic resources in the state, the present administration remains committed and will continue to transform the education sector which has so far started yielding positive results.
“Government is determined to build more classrooms, provide teaching materials and engage qualified teachers, among others”, he said.
Fintiri said the government will select some schools and make them a science base to promote science and technology.
Earlier in his remark, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Garba Isa commended Governor Umaru Fintiri for executing more than one hundred projects across the state in the areas of education, infrastructure, and health among others.
“A number of schools should be converted to purely science institution bases in addition to equipping them with laboratories and other state of the art equipment to enhance teaching and learning in the related fields”, he said.
