The West African Pilot News (WAP)  has confirmed the death of their Regional Correspondent, Ibrahim Abdulaziz. The veteran Journalist died on Friday 5th February 2021 in an auto crash along Alkaleri-Bauchi- Gombe road according to Family sources.

Ibrahim Abdul’Aziz, based in Yola coordinated news stories in the northern part of the country, and facilitated documentaries and interviews across boarders. WAP’s Editorial Board issued a statement describing late Abdul’Aziz, as a promising humble, and diligent journalist, stating: “We are deeply saddened by his untimely exit and pray that the Almighty Allah grant him a peaceful eternal rest.”

Editorial Director WAP’s Dr. Chris Ulasi, described him as a “valued writer” who has contributed immensely to “our editorial team.” “We will sure miss his dedication and comradeship. His gentle soul will surely rest in perfect peace”

Abdul’Aziz has a passion for reporting untold stories and this had encouraged him to attend various courses on investigative journalism, including training at The International Center for Investigative Reporting, ICIR. He had flair for both electronic and print media including AP and had freelanced for the Voice of America, Hausa Service as a Multi-Media journalist. WAP’s Publication Director, Dr. Anthony Ogbo aknowledged his dedication and described him as an aggressive journalist who had paid his professional dues. “The shock of his demise is so overwhelming and I pray that Almighty Allah grants him eternal rest and walks his family through this tough period.”

Ibrahim Abdul’ Aziz  based in Yola, North Eastern part of Nigeria read Journalism from the prestigious  Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria and attended several professional courses on  Tackling Sensitive Subjects- BBC World Trust, News Reporting Course, Catholic Media Centre, Reporting Corruption- BBC World Trust, and Reporters Training on New Challenges- VOA. In 2012 he was among those honored by the Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA) and presently he is a member of, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and a Member, Translators Without Border (TWB) international.
