The Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi Friday received six ex-National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Enugu State indigenes who were recipients of the President’s NYSC Honours award in February 11, 2021, in Abuja.

In addition to the automatic employment of the recipients into the Federal Civil Service and scholarship up to doctoral degree level in any university in Nigeria awarded to 110 recipients of the President’s award for distinguishing themselves creditably in the service of their fatherland during the 2018/2019 service year, Ugwuanyi also rewarded the six honorees indigenes of the state with an undisclosed amount of cash reward.

Receiving the honorees at the EXCO Chambers of the Government House, Enugu, Gov. Ugwuanyi described them as worthy ambassadors of the state and prayed that God will honour them even as they have brought honour to Enugu by their outstanding service to our fatherland.

He also commended NYSC Enugu State donating a sum of N10million naira to the agency.

In his brief response, the Enugu State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Sam Ujogu, expressed gratitude to Gov. Ugwuanyi for his numerous support of the agency;

“The construction of the perimeter fence of the NYSC camp in the state by your administration has improved the security of the federal government facility during camping activities,

“Before now we have been having altercation and encroachment in the camp, but with the fencing of this facility, security is now very assured and Corps members now feel very relaxed and secured,” Ujogu said.

Ujogu further disclosed that the Enugu State Corps members won a digit trophy during a nation-wide competition for the first time in the history of the State.

He then prayed that God bestows on the governor the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to continue to discharge his responsibilities diligently, reiterating the federal agency’s commitment to the development of the state.

The six honorees from Enugu State are Jude Ogbodo Ogene (Isi-Uzo LGA); Victor Chidiebere Ezebuilo (Ezeagu LGA); Jane Akudinanwa Egbo (Enugu South LGA); Dr. Victor Sunday Eze (Nsukka); Cynthia Odinaka Ezeiloh (Awgu LGA) and Boniface Tochukwu Obiekwe (Ezeagu LGA).
