YOLA — Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State Thursday received the COVID-19 AstraZeneca vaccine at the vaccination centre in the State Specialist Hospital Yola.
The Governor in an interview with newsmen after taking the vaccine call on the people in Adamawa to avail themselves of the vaccination as it is safe and harmless.
“People should take the vaccine because it is the only way to make them safe and built their immunity against the coronavirus pandemic, because the world has gone through a difficult period, with the dreaded pandemic, but thanked God that the COVID-19 vaccine is finally founded and available”, he said.
Fintiri stated that the vaccines so far received by the state government are few and in the next ten days other batches will arrive so that everybody will be vaccinated in the state.
On his part after taking his vaccine, the State Chairman of Muslim Council, Alhaji Gambo Jika urged Muslims to endeavor to take the vaccine as it is proved safe internationally by health experts.
“The Muslim Council will ensure adequate enlightenment of its followers on the safety of the vaccines through lectures in Mosques, and Islamiyya schools, among other facilities at its disposal.
Other Personalities that received the COVID-19 vaccine are Speaker Adamawa State Assembly, Aminu Iya Abbas, Secretary to the State Government SSG Malam Bashir Ahmad, Chief of Staff Government House, Yola Prof Maxwell Gidado, state cabinet members, members of the State House of Assembly and Vice-Chancellor Modibbo Adama University, Yola Professor Abdullahi Liman Tukur.
The Adamawa State Government has taken delivery of 59, 280 doses of COVID-19 Astrazeneca vaccines from the Federal Government on Tuesday this week.
