In order to carry physically challenged persons in the scheme of things, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has flagged off the training of one hundred and five physically challenged persons in various skills across the twenty-one local governments in the state.

The training programme was organized by the Adamawa State Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency, PAWECA in collaboration with the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Development.

Declaring open the training programme at the Women Development Centre Yola, Governor Fintiri represented by the Deputy Speaker in the State House of assembly Mr. Pwamakaino Makondo, reiterated his commitment in changing the narrative of Adamawa State saying one of the eleven-point agenda of his administration is to institute equitable welfare program for all citizens.

The Governor called on the beneficiaries of the training to make use of the opportunity given to them.

In her welcome Address the Head of Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency PAWECA, Hajiya Aisha Bawa Bello explained that the one hundred and five physically challenged persons will be trained in viable skills for a period of two months after which they will be empowered to be self-reliant.

She commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for giving the agency the approval to Train the physically challenged persons in the State and urged him to maintain the tempo.

“A monitoring and evaluation team has been put in place to ensure the success of the programme across the twenty-one local governments”, she said.

Bello urged the beneficiaries to be punctual, attentive and committed throughout the training programme in order to compliment government effort in making them self-reliant.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the state chairman of Joint National Association of Persons Living with Disability Alhaji Sani Sabo thanked Governor Ahmadu Fintiri for his support to people living with disability.
