Stakeholders of Enugu East Senatorial District during a meeting at the palace of HRH Igwe Julius Nnaji declared that the Governorship position of all the political parties in Enugu come 2023 be reserved for persons from their zone.

The communiqué released after the meeting endorsed by seven prominent political bulwarks from the zone states, “on the premise to attain equity, sense of belongingness and social justice, we reiterate the Enugu East Senatorial zone’s commitment to the doctrine of rotation among the three senatorial zones which started with Enugu East senatorial zone in 1999.”

“Therefore, the sequence of rotation should be maintained given the associated benefits of peaceful transition, political inclusiveness, and brotherly relationship existing in the State.”

They further called on political elites from other senatorial zones in Enugu State to cooperate with the governor, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on his expressed commitment to the doctrine of rotation.

“The stakeholders of Enugu East Senatorial District hereby unequivocally and unmistakably declare that the Governorship position of all the political parties in the State should be zoned to Enugu East Senatorial District in the 2023 general elections.”

The communiqué was signed by Senator Ken Nnamani, GCON; Sen. Chimaroke Nnamani; Ofor Chukwuegbo; Nnoli Nnaji; Cornelius Nnaji; Augustine Nnamani; Dr. Ben Nwoye.

The meeting was convened by Edward Ubosi, Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly.
