The Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry Enugu Nigeria, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has expressed gratitude to his followers for the peaceful protest staged against his suspicious disappearance.

Addressing the mammoth crowd of protesters shortly after his release, Mbaka revealed that he had been kept incommunicado for a day, insisting that he has no problem whatsoever with the church.

“Since yesterday (Tuesday) I’ve not been around; I don’t know what I did. If not what you (protesters) did, I don’t know what it would have turned to.

“I have no problem with the church. I don’t have any problem with the Catholic church or any other church. I am just a servant of God; an instrument of the divine.”

Contrary to the news flying and the concerns expressed by groups regarding his disappearance which came in the wake of recent saga between the fiery priest and the Federal Government, many assumed the later had a hand in the priest’s ordeal.

However, on the second day of his incarceration, his followers on getting hint of the whereabouts of their spiritual director, besieged the compound of the Bishop of Enugu Catholic Diocese demanding his immediate release.

Rev. Fr. Mbaka in his address after his release confirmed that the authorities of the Enugu Catholic Diocese were behind his two days ordeal.

“My offence they said is that I blessed Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

“Are you the owner of my mouth? You can’t tell me who to bless? If you are not happy that I blessed someone, you have your own mouth, you can curse the person,” he declared.

He further revealed that the Bishop summoned and planned to keep him for 30 days save for the intervention of his faithful followers.

“Lots of issues were presented against me after which the Church leadership, led by Bishop Calistus Onaga said that I should remain indoors for one month; a period that would allow me pray and meditate over my activities.”

“I requested an opportunity to address my parishioners before shutting me down but they refused.

“I also begged them to allow me send another priest to come and celebrate mass for you today, they also said No; Bishop Onaga upon seeing the protest over my predicament allowed me to go,” Mbaka said.
