Hon. Nonso Okafor, the member representing Nnewi North Local Government in Anambra State House of Assembly and a Governorship hopeful on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance –APGA, has intensified his consultation with the leadership of his party at the grassroots.

Earlier, Okafor announced that he is set to commence his Local Government and ward tour, a major indicator of the seriousness of a governorship aspirant.

In the past few days, Hon. Nonso has gone on to interface with APGA leaders in several Local Government Areas across the three senatorial zones of the state, where he preached his message of hope and his conviction that what Anambra needs is what he called a “VISA ECONOMY”, which according to him, addresses both the challenge of the now and that of the future of Anambra State.

So far, in all, Hon. Okafor has visited about ten local governments and intends to complete his scheduled visits to local governments and political wards in the state, within the coming days.

Importantly, this visit is remarkable in the manner Hon. Nonso is able to organize and articulate the thrusts upon which his government will be established when he is given the chance to lead Anambra state, leveraging on the diverse comparative advantage of different local governments in the state. For instance, in Awka North, he narrated the vantage position of the local government in agriculture and identified challenges militating against them realizing their full potential. Thereafter, he then gave a blueprint on how his government will address the challenge.

In Onitsha North and South local governments, amidst massive turnout, Hon. Nonso expressed concerns over the state of “critical infrastructure” in Onitsha and also assured that his government will “expand the conversation on urban renewal in Anambra state, but specifically in Onitsha”.

So far, Hon. Nonso has his strong message of hope to which many people can identify with, and in addition to a personal success story of grass to grace, to bring the narrative home. Nonso also has strong youth appeal and following which are but some of his comparative advantages in the race to the Government House of Anambra State in 2021.

Although so far, APGA is the only major political party in Anambra state where an individual is yet to pick a nomination form and expression of interest form to contest for the highest office in the state. But for Hon. Nonso, even that is not a discouragement from going out to meet, interact and raise issues of public concerns with party faithful, as expected of a serious aspirant.

It is therefore yet to be seen just how APGA plans to conduct its primary election that will throw up a flag bearer for the party in the November 6, 2021 governorship contest.
