ILORIN — The Provost of the College of Education, Ilorin, Professor Abdulraheem Yusuf has been sacked by the Kwara State government.

Yusuf, who had only 12 months before the expiration of his tenure was allegedly engaged in running battles with the management and staff of the institution since the assumption of office.

The altercation with the management had bordered on maladministration.

Professor Yusuf was replaced by Dr. Ahmed Jimoh Ayinla, a staff of the college who is to act as the new provost of the institution.

It was gathered that the newly constituted governing council of the college was overwhelmed with petitions against the sacked provost which it acted upon leading to his removal.

Spokesman to the governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, confirmed that Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq approved the sacking of the provost and was in line with extant laws.

“The law, according to findings only mandates due consultations with the relevant bodies, in this case, the institution’s governing council as the case may be.”

“The governor has also directed the governing council of the institution to begin the process of appointment of a new provost for the institution in line with extant laws,” he said.

When on phone Professor Yusuf to react he said ” I am in a meeting now, I will call back when I finish the meeting.”

He, however, did not call till the time of this report.
