History was made on Saturday in Adamawa with the commissioning of the first-ever flyover in the Northeastern states of Nigeria by former Vice President Abubakar Atiku which was constructed by the Fintiri led administration.

The overhead bridge at Total Filling Station Junction includes provision of a roundabout to distribute traffic to all roads at the ground level and extra lanes on the roads on each side of the roads on the ground level.

He lauded Governor Umaru Finiri for executing the gigantic project in the face of dwindling economic resources coupled with the competing demands in the state.

In his remark, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the significance of a project in the heart of a city like Yola “cannot be overemphasized” and named the flyover bridge after the late Lamido of Adamawa, Alhaji Aliyu Musdafa.

My administration must not wait until the population in the state bursts to the level of disorder and the roads are taken over by gridlocks before the construction of the flyover arguing that it is equally cheaper to do it now since it is inevitable in the near future.”

“The project is one of the packages for the Adamawa Urban Renewal campaign and the administration will sustain it at this pace or even at a more speedy stride, until all the urban centers and semi-urban centers wear a befitting look,” he said.

Fintiri assured that his administration will continue to provide good governance in the state.

In his remark, the Commissioner of Works and Energy Development, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar said the mega project was completed less than twelve months of its timeframe and thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for making history by constructing the flyover.
