Some farmers in Demsa Local Government Area on Friday blocked Demsa-Numan highway for several hours to express their concern over alleged destruction of their farms by herders.
Many travelers have been trapped in the incident, though as at the time of filling in the report there was no loss of life or destruction of properties by the protesting farmers.
Contacted, the spokesman of the Adamawa State Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje who confirmed the development, said a detachment of Police personnel have drafted to the area to re-open the road and to restore normalcy.
He added that the Commissioner of Police has ordered the arrest of those causing havoc on farms, while talks are ongoing between the Commissioner of Police, Hama Bata and other leaders in the area.
