AWKA — Anambra State House of Assembly today, under the Motion of Urgent Importance resolved that employment exercises conducted by the state government for prospective workers at the yet to be commissioned Anambra Airport be canceled, with immediate effect.
The Anambra Airport expected to be commissioned soon, we gathered, have employees who are already undergoing training at the Golden Tulip, Agulu Lake Hotel, in Anambra State. The House of Assembly also resolved that employment into the Anambra State Judiciary is also suspended.
Every member of the House at the plenary today spoke in favour of the motion that the employment into Anambra Airport and Anambra Judiciary be canceled for lack of due process and the fact that it was hijacked and conducted against the knowledge of the House of Assembly.
The House also summoned the Head of Service of Anambra State, Barr. Harry Uduh and the Commissioner of Works, Engr. Marcel Ifejiofor to appear at the plenary on the next adjourned date which is on Thursday, 15th July 2021.
Here is a summary of House of Assembly decisions during today’s plenary;
1. That the ongoing alleged recruitment both at the Anambra State Cargo International Airport and the Ministry of Justice did not follow the due process and therefore be cancelled with immediate effect.
2. Secondly, that the Commissioner for Works and the Head of Service appear before the House on the next adjourned date, Thursday, 15th July, 2021 for clarification.
3. Finally, that the Assembly will have to issue a resolution authorizing any further recruitment process.
As of the time of filing this report, we are unable to get a response from the Head of Service, the Commissioner for Works, or the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State.
