JobsPovertyAdamawa State Government Moves To Reduce Poverty Captures 10,520 Persons Under ADSSP

YOLA — The Fintiri administration has initiated a programme to improve a lot of youth, women, people living with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups in the state, and no fewer than 10,520 have been captured under “Adamawa State Social Support Program (ADSSP)”.

The initiative was organised by Adamawa State Poverty Alleviation And Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) aimed at training youths on various skills while assisting them with handouts to enable them float above poverty level.

The initiative of the programme (ADSSP) is to promote economic empowerment and built the capacity of the youths and women aimed at eradicating inter-generational and multidimensional poverty currently afflicting many families in the state.

“Government is making critical investment in human capital development to support vulnerable citizens and lift a sizable proportion of people out of poverty; beneficiaries should utilize the training funds judiciously for the purpose intended,” Fintiri said.

Hajiya Aisha Bawa Bello, Head of PAWECA, said Governor Fintiri has approved reopening of 5 out of the 10 vocational skill acquisition centres in Adamawa established by the Nyako led administration.

“Governor Fintiri is committed to reducing the rate of poverty in the state from 74.5 percent to zero levels and declared him as empowerment pacesetter,” she said.

In a remark, Mr. Iya James, Commissioner of Entrepreneurship Development, said the programme is the first phase and rated Governor Fintiri high for prioritizing economic, political, and sociocultural development of the state.

Dahiru Mahmud Fufore who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, lauded Governor Umaru Fintiri for the empowerment programme and pledged that they will use the training and funds judiciously for the purpose intended.

There were goodwill messages from the Chairman of Mubi South local government council who doubles as the state chairman Association of Local Governments in Nigeria, Alhaji Jingi Rufai and Commissioner for local government affairs, Alhai Ibrahim Yayaji Mijinyawa.
