YOLA — For the past six years, the Kudzum Bridge in Michika local government that links Borno and Adamawa States destroyed by insurgents was rebuilt by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) and commissioned.
The rebuilding of the bridge is part of the mandate of the Commission to rebuild destroyed public infrastructures.
At the ceremony, Crowther Seth noted that the rebuilding of the bridge will boost the transportation of goods and services in the area.
He explained that the reconstruction of the infrastructure will meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people of Adamawa and lauded the foresight of the federal government and the North East Development Commission for the effort.
In their separate remarks, Major General Paul Tarfa (retd), Chairman North East Development Commission (NEDC) and the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the commission, Mohammed Goni Alkali said the completion of Kudzum Bridge is part of the mandate of commission to rebuild the North East through executing both human and capital projects.
They added that it is in the commission’s mandate to rebuild public and private infrastructures destroyed by insurgents, and attributed the successes recorded so far to support of the federal government.
According to the officials, “Fourteen point seven billion naira was the total sum for the reconstruction of the thirty kilometer road from Maraba Mubi to Madagali involving three bridges of which the already completed kudzum bridge is among.” They added.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Governor Chief Crowther Seth in company of other officials also supervised the reconstructed Kudzum health center, rebuilt by Multi Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCPR), after it was destroyed by insurgents.
