ENUGU — Leaders of the South East region of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on Tuesday resolved to study the reports presented by the Ohaneze Worldwide for immediate implementation and engagement with the Federal Government for amicable settlement of all issues raised therein that is agitating the minds of the people of the region especially the youth.

The Committee report from Ohaneze bothers on various matters affecting the South East especially on the issue of security and marginalization of the region and her people.

South East Governors and other leaders of the zone, hosted by Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Governor of Enugu State, at the Council Chambers, Lion Building Government House, Enugu on Tuesday, 5th of October, 2021.

This was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting of South East Governors and other leaders of the zone, hosted by Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Governor of Enugu State, at the Council Chambers, Lion Building Government House, Enugu on Tuesday, 5th of October, 2021.

Other leaders of thought who participated in the meeting include traditional rulers, clergies, National Assembly members and other leaders in the zone.

The Governors and leaders also condemned the killings in the region promising to jointly collaborate with security agencies to stop the incessant killings and kidnappings witnessed in the recent times in the region.

They further resolved, “The South East Ebubeagu security outfit will be launched in all the South East States and laws passed in the various the South East States before the end of 2021;

The communiqué also stated, “We condemn the sit-at-home orders, which are mostly issued by our people in the Diaspora who do not feel the pains and we will do everything within the law to ensure that there is no further sit-at-home in the South East and that people are allowed to freely move about in the Zone;

On the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra state, they promised to support election in Anambra State directing security agencies to ensure a peaceful election in Anambra State come November 6th, 2021.

They further enjoined the religious and traditional leaders, Ohaneze group and all other concerned groups to keep interfacing with the youth so that sustainable peace and normalcy be restored in the region; dialogue they say is the key.
