YOLA — Lamido Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa has pledged the support of the Emirate towards ensuring that elected leaders are accountable to their electorates.
The royal father stated this Thursday in his palace when members of the Transparency and Accountability Project under the Centre for Women and Adolescent Empowerment Yola led by Hajiya Asma’u Joda paid him an advocacy visit.
The Lamido, who acknowledged the role played by the centre towards women emancipation particularly Girl-child education, urged it not to relent, adding that the emirate will mobilize community leaders to enlighten their subjects on the anti-corruption project being undertaken by the centre.
Represented by the Galadima Adamawa, Alhaji Mustapha Aminu, the Lamido while assuring them of the emirate support for the success of the projects, charged other non-governmental organizations to emulate the good work of the centre.
Earlier, the Chair of the Centre and leader of the delegation, Hajiya Asma’u Joda said the visit is to intimate the royal father on the second phase of the anti-corruption project and to solicit for partnership so as to change the current situation in the county of unrest in the country.
She explained that the project is intended to change the mindset of people to desist from collecting campaign materials like foodstuff and cooking seasoning but demand for the right thing to be done for their communities.
Hajiya Asma’u Joda said the project intends to ensure that elected representatives adhere to an accord to be signed between them and their electorates in the presence of their traditional rulers.
