YOLA — Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state on Tuesday tasked the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to help and educate the people on ways to avoid issues that trigger crises in the society.

Fintiri was speaking at the Government House, Yola when Mr. Edward Kallon United Nations Resident Humanitarian Coordinator and UNDP Representative called on him.

“Education will assist towards ensuring that people take a drastic solution towards curbing any crisis before it happens.

“Efforts of the state government have paid off in terms of minimizing crisis when compared to 2019 before coming of the present administration.

“Adamawa is a peaceful state and this administration is poised to keep the profile high through investing in infrastructure and human capital development to halt rural-urban drift,” he said.

He commended the efforts of UNDP towards crisis management in the Northeast which has restored and promoted peace and tranquility in the sub-region.

Earlier, the UN Resident Humanitarian Coordinator and UNDP Representative, Edward Kallon in his remark said the visit was to inform the Governor of his transfer to Zimbabwe.

Kallon noted that the only panacea to crisis remains peace and sustainable growth and lauded the Governor for supporting the UNDP at all times.
