ENUGU — The Enugu State Tech Hub and Youth Innovation Centre Obollo Afor have successfully trained a hundred and fourteen indigent persons in Information Communication Technology, ICT.
The five-week free training organized by the State Government in collaboration with Tech 4 Development exposed participants to fundamentals of computer, ICT among others.
Presenting certificates of participation to the participants the General Manager Enugu State Tech Hub, Obollo Afor, Dr. Emmanuel Uba Nwani revealed that the training was specifically organized for the indigents who do not have access to modern technology.
“The training is in line with the State government’s cardinal aims to empower the girl-child by exposing them to the digital world through knowledge of computer applications and other digital intricacies, to enable them to earn a living and be self-reliant in future.
“They were taught the computer parts, how to work with applications like Microsoft window, create email addresses, browse the internet amongst others.
“We know that presently Nigeria is working towards Computer Based Test (CBT) for all grades and the people concerned especially the people in the hinterland must be acquainted with the computer system,” Nwani said.
Nwani then urged other pupils in the area to develop interest and avail themselves of the life-changing opportunity.
The beneficiaries were elated and thanked the Enugu State Government for the all-important training as it will help them in their lives endeavors and education.
The Enugu State Tech Hub and Youth Innovation Centre Obollo Afor in Udenu Local Government Area was commissioned on the 18th of March, 2021.
